Your Writing Prompts for March 2025

On the Calendar

3/1: World Compliment Day. Or acknowledge more than just employees today by showering kind words on those that help your organization in some way. Or use it as a way to encourage others to practice self-love.

3/2: Dr. Suess’s Birthday. Have a favorite Suess story that’s really a bigger life lesson related to your cause? Green Eggs and Ham, The Lorax, and Oh, The Places You’ll Go! are favorites.

3/3: I Want You to Be Happy Day. Do something that will make others happy. You could post a cute animal video on social or send a special email. Or you can share tips on how to make others happy (like your clients).

3/7: Employee Appreciation Day. Give a shout-out to those who keep your nonprofit running.

3/8: Women’s Day. Highlight a program that helps women. Feature women who have been influential in supporting your cause. This year’s theme is “Inspire Inclusion.”

3/8: Genealogy Day. Trace the origins of your organization or share if your founder has any interesting relations.

3/9: Daylight Savings Time Begins. Time to spring forward! What can your supporters do with all their extra sunlight?

3/10: International Day of Awesomeness. This can go a lot of different ways. Share something awesome your org has done, an awesome person who volunteers, etc.

3/15: Everything You Think Is Wrong Day. Dispel myths or rumors about your cause or organization. Challenge your supporters to think about something a different way. Or post a piece from someone who disagrees with your work and have a healthy debate.

3/17: St. Patrick’s Day. Think luck of the Irish, green, leprechauns, beer, and shamrocks.

3/19: Let’s Laugh Day. Share a meme that relates to your work or a funny video.

3/20: First Day of Spring. Use warmer weather, flowers blossoming, snow melting away, grass turning green, fresh beginnings as inspiration.

3/20: International Day of Happiness. Spread some joy with positive and uplifting content or share funny memes or videos.

3/22: World Water Day. Even if you aren’t an environmental cause, we all need to take care of our water resources. Give tips on how to save water or ask for tips from your supporters. Have readers submit photos featuring water or have a caption contest for a photo of a local lake or river.

3/26: Make Up Your Own Holiday Day. If there was a holiday to honor your organization, what would it be called and how should people celebrate it?
