I’ve been there, staring at the computer hoping inspiration — or a quick idea that I can write in under 15 minutes — will pop up somewhere. There’s no other way to put it – writer’s block sucks.
Be we have something to make it easier on you: our free monthly nonprofit writing prompts.
At the start of each month, we’ll send you an email with at least 10 prompts to get you thinking about articles, stories, press releases, blog posts, Facebook updates, letters, and other content that you could write for the following month. That way you’ll have time to think about the ideas and incorporate them into your calendar.
“Kivi, I love, love, love your writing prompts! I have a horror of writer’s block, and your prompts are my safeguard in the face of brain death, aphasia, malaise, etc. Thank you so much!” – Sharon Strong, International Primate Protection League
Nearly 7,500 nonprofits are on the free Writing Prompts list now. Want to join them? Just fill out the form below and you’ll receive December’s prompts next week.

Need some ideas for November? Here are some prompts we sent at the beginning of October:
On the Calendar:
11/1: Book Lovers Day. Share your favorite books relating to the work your nonprofit does.
11/11: Veteran’s Day. Highlight volunteers, staff or clients who have served in the military.
11/15: America Recycles Day. Share how your organization recycles. For a twist, try “recycling” old content that got a good response.
11/15: National Philanthropy Day. Recognize your greatest supporters.
11/27: Thanksgiving (U.S.). Thank supporters, clients, and volunteers. Email messages of gratitude around Thanksgiving are a great way to kick off a series of fundraising emails in November and December.
Metaphor of the Month:
This month’s metaphor is Shopping. Think about sales, bargains, prices, Amazon, mark-downs, close-outs, grocery lists, shopping carts, aisles, cash register, lines, secret shoppers, credit, returns, eBay, QVC, yard sales, convenience store, coupons.
How can you relate these things to your organization?
Pop Culture, Events, and News:
Daylight Savings Time ends on November 2nd.
The New York City Marathon will be run November 2nd as well.
November 4th is Election Day in the US.

In honor of election day, challenge someone you disagree with to a debate in a point/counterpoint article or blog post.
